I have lived in Blaine, MN for more than eight years, and during that time I've been organizing with our community around housing bills, candidate forums and town halls, and rallies at the Capitol. I very well may have knocked on your door. Through this work, I've built relationships with our neighbors and legislators because I believe real change happens when we come together and make our voices heard.
I'm originally from Massachusetts, where I studied Political Science and Philosophy at Westfield State University, a Horace Mann college and one of the first in the country to offer education without barriers of race, creed, or economic status. I moved to Minnesota in February 2013 and have worked in fields from academia to health care.
Today, I work as an Accountant, helping provide retirement, disability, and survivor benefits to Minnesota's educators across the state. My work has shown me the importance of looking out for one another and making sure people have the security and support they deserve.
Right now, we are living through a housing crisis. Private equity and special interests are running unchecked in Blaine, while our City Council has not done enough to stand up for the needs of our community. Everyone deserves the right to live safely and securely in their home. This is not the time for indecision or politics as usual.
I'm stepping up to serve on the Blaine City Council because I want to continue building community together, this time as your representative. We all have a stake in what happens next, and I want to bring my experience, my relationships, and my commitment to organizing to City Hall. I'm ready to share your fight, your concerns, and your hopes for Blaine, and work alongside you to build the community we deserve.
